Version #7

I felt yesterday's was a little too "jazzy" so I took a different approach to what I was trying. 2005-06-01

Version #8

Really mutated now. Sort of an early '70s feel to it, so I placed it in the Old South Church in Boston. 2005-06-02

Version #9

Just continuing with the versions. Today the sun is shining and the birds are chirping. Spring has really come to Sweden. 2005-06-03

Version #10

Trying something with voices today. 2005-06-04

Version #11

This is based on Version #8 with a lot of modifications. 2005-06-05

Version #12

Turned it into an ensemble piece this time. 2005-06-06

Version #13

Yesterday's version heard in a dream. One of my goals with my pieces is that the listener is able to forget that they are listening. Feel free to leave the room while this is playing. 2005-06-07

Methods of control

Back again to the didjeridoo. Lots and lots of signal processing getting modulated by the audio signal of the didj itself. I'm starting to get it pinned down. This setup is getting more responsive to my playing. Still a long way to go, however. 2005-06-08

June 9, 2005

And some more

Same track, different processing. 2005-06-09

June 10, 2005

Well, err - ummmm

Again with the same track, still trying out different controlled processing. Not sure what I think of it. 2005-06-10

The feedback machine meets the long wooden tube

The feedback machine returns, this time added to the didjeridoo track I've been working on. 2005-06-11

June 12, 2005

The son of feedback machine

Still playing around with this. The didjeridoo has disappeared, but it is still controlling all the processing. 2005-06-12

June 13, 2005

The son of feedback machine meets godzilla

The didjeridoo is creeping back in in this one. 2005-06-13

Flutter guitar revisited

Going back a couple months - this is that big guitar wash. I've done a bit of tweaking with the timing and totally changed the mix. I know there's something in here, I've just got to find it. 2005-06-14

Back again?

We take a trip down memory lane to the Piano Lounge. Things are pretty much the same, except it's summer now and they've got the windows open. 2005-06-15

I have reached the 1/3rd point by the way - 122 tunes. I hardly believe it myself.

Too many cosmos

As the night drags on, things start to get a little weird. 2005-06-16

June 17, 2005

Ear candy

I really love Garageband. It's so fun to use to make music, it's like a toy. It's really good for blowing out the cobwebs and having a little fun with no pressure. 2005-06-17

Abduction

Aliens have abducted my track. 2005-06-18

June 19, 2005

Neuftet

A little formal dance music. 2005-06-19

June 20, 2005

Up to old tricks

I can't help it, but whenever I do something with strings, I have to slow it way down and make it soft. 2005-06-20

June 21, 2005

I just couldn't help myself

I just had to stick the strings into the feedback machine to see what happens. 2005-06-21

June 22, 2005

Swoopy, bloopy noises

This is a test of a few things - I'm using JunXion from Steim to turn a game joystick into a MIDI controller. Its controlling a synth and some effects plugins. The other thing I'm testing is Soundflower, an audio routing program for the Mac. I'm using it to route the audio out of and back into Cubase in order to record the synth and effects on to separate audio tracks. I'm having to do all this because Cubase doesn't like the MIDI coming from JunXion and does strange things to it.

Oh, my head . . .

Another migraine track. 2005-06-23

Didjeridoo control system

Having another go with the control system. 2005-06-24

June 25, 2005

Out of my control

I fiddled around a bit more with yesterday's track. This is more what I'm after with the control system. The only problem is - I have no idea how I got this to work. 2005-06-25

June 26, 2005

Even closer

I figured out how yesterday's setup work, so I completely changed it. Here's a new approach to the control technology. 2005-06-26

June 27, 2005

Brickolage

Spontaneous assembly of sounds from a kit. 2005-06-27

June 28, 2005

Looking over my shoulder

Getting back to my funk roots here. It's a little experiment in one-finger accompaniment. I used Virtual Guitarist, Groove Agent and Broomstick Bass. I never imagined I'd use any programs like those, but it's pretty fun, and the rhythm tracks they came up with are not bad. At least they don't talk back like real musicians. But on the other hand, they're not very good at telling jokes and they never buy a round. 2005-06-28

June 29, 2005

And once more . . .

Same process as yesterday, just a different style. 2005-06-29

June 30, 2005

Round and round

I put the track from the 22nd into a new version of the feedback machine. It's got lots of delays now and the feedback is using the didjeridoo control system to control itself. 2005-06-30
